Metchosin Challenge: Our Lenten speakers series that challenges ourselves and the wider community to expand our world view, now in its third year has invite thought provoking speakers such as our 2019 line-up of: Moussa Magassa (Uvic) Eddy Charlie & Kristen Spray (Orange Shirt Day), Dr. Lorna Willam’s (UVic), Elizabeth May (Green Party), Herbert O’ Driscoll (Canadian Writer) and many many more great thinkers and presenters. Every year we seek to provide the community with great presentation and discussions and look forward to bringing you many more in 2020.
Metchosin Coffee House: Partnering with Dave and Marylyn Gallant, we welcome professional folk music singers and musicians to headline. There’s an open mic that attracts some great local talent too. A great place to meet new people, listen to good music and be welcomed into a great community space. Our Coffee House occurs the first saturday of every month and our doors open at 6:30 with music starting around 7pm.
Messy Church occurs every second friday from Sept to June starting at 5:30pm, featuring crafts, stories and games with a biblical theme for young families and their children. During every session a meal is served and it is a great opportunity to share in fellowship with other young families in the community. Messy Church generally runs from 5:30-7pm.
Monday Morning Men's St. Mary's Maintenance Group gets together every monday rain or shine to provide care to our two Churches. Meeting between 9 and 9:15am at the Heritage Church the men look after St. Mary the Virgin's churchyard and general maintenance They take a break in the middle of all that work for coffee. Thanks to these hard-working guys who make our little church look so beautiful year after year. Come to help out, or just to visit, new people are always welcome.
