The time is upon us again, time to start thinking about our Annual Blackberry Festival. It will be held September 30th from 10am to 2pm. Line ups for a prime spot start at this well-known event start at 8:00/9:00am; doors open at 10am.
As mentioned, we will be selling our very own Blackberry Pies. The berries are local and have been picked by our congregation. Our pastry was mixed with the help of industrial mixer by our friends at the Royal Bay Bakery. Which we roll out and use to make our pie shells and tops. All ingredients are supplied by the congregation. A special shout out to our friends Dave and Gwen at Royal Bay Bakery who have allowed us the use their wonderful equipment for many years as a support to the community. Check them out on 3337 Metchosin Road in Colwood.
This annual Metchosin event is a highlight on Metchosin’s fall calendar. This is a guaranteed way to fill your freezers and your pantry with yummy blackberry goodies such as our 10” inch, deep dish, country blackberry pies. This year with 35% more berries per pie than in previous years. We also offer our bake table with such goodies as jams, jellies and cordials as well as baked treats from the congregration.
We acknowledge our dedicated crew of berry pickers and pastry makers with the generous support of Royal Bay Bakery owners Dave and Gwen who have donated their time and labour for many years to help us mix the large quantities of pastry dough required for this sale with their industrial mixer. The Festival itself has been running for many, many years.
On September 30th, the church Sanctuary will be transformed into a quaint tearoom, serving homemade scones with locally made blackberry jam. Local Girl Guides will assist in the serving of these tasty delights. Be sure to get here early to avoid disappointment as people line up in anticipation of the doors opening and getting the first choice of pies. Our doors open at 10 am and the sale runs until we're sold out.
Come and enjoy our special Metchosin Charm and God Bless you All.
